Testing for radon gas, a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can accumulate in homes. Especially important in Massachusetts where radon is common. Usually conducted during the home inspection period.

Example

If radon levels exceed 4.0 pCi/L, sellers typically install a mitigation system costing $1,200-$2,500.
