Cash-Out Refinance

Definition

Refinancing for more than you owe and receiving the difference in cash. Uses home equity for renovations, debt consolidation, or investments.

Example

Owe $400,000 on a $700,000 home. Refinance for $500,000, pay off existing loan, and receive $100,000 cash (minus closing costs).
