A mortgage that exceeds conforming loan limits set by the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA). In 2025, loans above $806,500 in most areas ($1,209,750 in high-cost areas including parts of Massachusetts) are considered jumbo loans.

A $1,000,000 home purchase in Boston would require a jumbo loan, which typically requires higher credit scores (700+) and larger down payments (15-20%).
